Chartered Accountant in London Ontario

Professional Background

I obtained my CA designation in 1979 having been a student-in-accounts at the firm of Peat Marwick (now KPMG) since 1977. Then I transferred to the tax department of that firm where I concentrated on advising corporate and personal clients concerning tax planning and assisting with tax filing requirements. During this period, I completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Course, the preeminent tax course in Canada.

In mid 1983 I started my own accounting practice locating it in the "Old South" neighbourhood of London, Ontario where I have lived all my life. My interest and emphasis has been helping small owner managed businesses and individuals. With this in mind, I assist clients with accounting, tax and business advisory services.

My World Before Accounting

I attended primary and secondary school in Old South, graduating from the latter as an Ontario Scholar. During these years I was active with the Boy Scouts and Rover Scouts and became a Queen’s Scout.

After graduating from the University of Waterloo with a B.Sc. degree in Honours Physics, I worked for a number of years in London in the research lab of an electronics component manufacturer carrying out research in solid state physics. This work also involved computer programming, a skill initially learned at University. As PC’s had just come onto the scene shortly before I started my accounting practice, my experience allowed me to integrate computers into my practice right from the start.
